Coupa’s recent Release 40 (R40) production rollout delivered a number of key updates, features, and enhancements designed to improve UX, controls, and efficiencies for Coupa admins and users. With important changes to mobile, inventory, risk, and payments capabilities, R40 is another step toward maximum Source-to-Pay ROI.

Must-Know Supplier Reminders

If suppliers don’t register their tax information by Nov. 1, 2024, their access to the Coupa platform will be limited to the Customer Supplier Portal (CSP) homepage. Existing suppliers with missing tax information must update it on their profile ahead of the deadline as well.

As a reminder, daily notifications are sent in the CSP. Should a supplier have a reason to not fill out their tax information, they can still select the “I do not have a tax ID” button and provide an explanation.

Top R40 Updates

Here are some of the key changes for Coupa admins and users to be aware of:

  • Coupa AI agent: Coupa NaviTM AI agent is a generative AI solution that provides real-time support and enables users to move through the platform more efficiently by automating and simplifying actions. Teams can make decisions faster with the agent guiding users through key cycles, like intake and purchase requests, form population, dashboard creation, and more.
  • Approval chain increases: Add up to 4 additional chain conditions when creating or editing approval chains (in the UI or CSV).
  • New ‘watcher’ functionality: Admins can now add watchers on custom object form response approval chain configurations, which is located at the end of the chain.
  • Management hierarchy approvals: Escalations can now be limited to only the next approver in the management hierarchy regardless of their approval limit. Escalation then goes to the next approver in the subsequent approval chain.
  • Per diem calculations for travel and expenses: In addition to monetary values, users can now calculate per diem exclusions in percentages, which is available in both simple and advanced per diem.
  • Coupa Pay changes: Several improvements to Coupa Pay are in progress, including the increase of payments per batch from 300 to 500, the enablement of same-day payments, stronger controls for managing virtual cards, and AI payment security alerts to notify admins of any risky payments during the batch creation process, among others.

These updates represent Coupa’s continued progress toward delivering procurement value, which organizations should leverage as soon as possible within their specific Coupa environment.
