Challenge

Nonprofit JRF Ortho struggled to scale to its growth potential. The company had already expanded from $35 million in revenue and continued on an upward trend.

In terms of the biggest challenge they faced, scaling to meet growth potential was, plain and simple, top of the list. Because in the years leading up to their need for a more expansive, operating solution, they’d grown from around 35 million in revenue and were on an uptrend. While keeping pace with 10-20 donors a month was common, JRF Ortho was soon contending with 70-80 donors a month. This resulted in strained operational efficiency and the inability to forecast supply and demand.

A heavily customized ERP system was needed to improve bandwidth, automate processes, and scale the business.

Keeping pace with 10-20 donors a month was common, but as expansion demands increased, JRF Ortho found itself contending with the 70-80 donors-a-month range. As a result, efficiency waned, and because they lacked a custom system, it became a challenge to maintain visibility into supply and nearly impossible to gain real insight into upcoming demand.

How We Helped

CrossCountry Consulting’s NetSuite implementation experts designed and implemented a solution that diagnosed and remediated all current-state issues with the legacy system. The team:

  • Presented and aligned on a transformation vision and implementation roadmap.
  • Managed the implementation lifecycle.
  • Developed custom solutions to the company’s unique situation and leveraged leading industry practices to maximize the value of the NetSuite instance.
  • Integrated bespoke add-ons, such as a Sharepoint connector and Approvals app.

By understanding the business model, our team challenged existing processes and established new processes that JRF Ortho could easily adopt and modify in the future.

Results

Since the implementation, the system continues to be fine-tuned. This has resulted in positive operational and technological changes that have enabled clear signs of growth, suggesting a new capacity to scale.

The company has now begun operating at never-before-seen efficiency levels and, backed by data, leadership welcomes the prospect of increasing supply as opposed to guessing at demand quotas. This means precise demand data can be instantly pulled and converted into actionable insights and forecasts.
